Emma O'Connor

Emma is a senior at Harwich High School. Emma has applied to a number of colleges. She hopes to be accepted to Northeastern University as business marketing major. As her guidance counselor stated, ''This young woman is really the nuts and bolts behind many of our school-wide activities". Those activities include participation in the leadership lock-in, peer leadership class, Best Buddies program, and spirit committee. Emma has also been successful in taking a variety of AP and honors classes. Her volunteer activities showcase her compassion such as delivering meals for home bound individuals, coaching soccer for the Special Olympics, organizing Red Cross blood drives, and directing bingo games at a nursing home. Emma's mother immigrated to America from Ireland when she was 22 years old. She has learned about her Irish heritage from her mother, grandmother, and by visiting Ireland. Her grandmother
taught her the work ethic to get the job done, to volunteer in the community, and to be persistent.
