Kelly Murphy

Kelly is a senior at Harwich High School and is currently ranked number one in her class. She anticipates majoring in Middle Eastern Studies in college. This interest was sparked by her desire to understand more thoroughly gender roles for women in that region. Kelly has a warm welcoming nature which compliments her fierce academic drive. Her passions include reading, playing field hockey, and participating in the Students Taking Action Now for Darfur. Kelly is president of the National Honor Society, Student Council secretary, and captain of the field hockey and girls' varsity track teams. Her volunteer work has included teaching young children field hockey skills and working at Brook's Free Library by performing a variety of duties. Her paternal grandmother immigrated to America directly from Ireland. Kelly's deep connection with Ireland and Gaelic culture has been strengthened through her grandmother's stories.
